News Tyler Hanes Will Be Billy Lawlor in Maine State's 42nd Street; Casting Announced Casting has been announced for the Maine State Music Theatre's upcoming production of the Tony-winning 42nd Street, which will play Aug. 8-25 at the Pickard Theater.

The production will be directed by Charles Repole with choreography by Michael Lichtefeld and musical direction by Jason Wetzel.

The cast will feature Alessa Neeck (Peggy Sawyer), Patrick Ryan Sullivan (Julian Marsh), Karen K. Edissi (Dorothy Brock), Tyler Hanes (Billy Lawlor), Charis Leos (Maggie Jones), Courtney Romano (Lorraine Flemming), Mara Newbery (Anytime Annie), Marjorie Failoni (Phyllis Dale), Zak Edwards (Oscar), Raymond Marc Dumont (Andy Lee), Glenn Anderson (Abner Dillon), Chuck Ragsdale (Mac) and Gregg Goodbrod (Pat Denning).

The ensemble comprises Matthew Warner Kiernan, Taylor Anderson, Matthew Begin, Blair Best, Michaela K. Boissonneault, Jeffery Heimbrock, Andrew Metzgar, Allie Pizzo, Jonalyn Saxer, Jordan Weagraff, Zachariah F. Williams and Emmeline Wood.

42nd Street features a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, lyrics by Al Dubin and music by Harry Warren. The 1980 Broadway production, directed by Gower Champion and orchestrated by Philip J. Lang, won the Tony Award for Best Musical and became a long-running hit. Recognizable songs from the show include “We’re In The Money,” “Keep Young And Beautiful,” “Dames,” “I Only Have Eyes For You,” “Shuffle Off To Buffalo” and “Lullaby Of Broadway.”

Based on the novel by Bradford Ropes and the 1933 film adaptation, 42nd Street, press notes state, "is a high-energy show about taking chances. At the height of the great depression, a director, Julian Marsh, decides to launch a musical extravaganza. Peggy Sawyer, fresh off the bus from Allentown, PA, has talent that shines but no one is looking until she runs directly into the person who could give her the break she needs, Marsh. After a series of events Marsh ends up casting the newcomer. However, Dorothy Brock, the experienced prima donna, realizes that Sawyer has the potential to outshine her stardom."
