PlayBlog Tyne Daly, Terrence McNally, Sierra Boggess Hit the Red Carpet on Master Class Opening Night (Video) Tony Award winner Tyne Daly recently returned to Broadway as Maria Callas in Terrence McNally's biographical drama, Master Class, at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. On the July 7 opening, Daly, McNally and Sierra Boggess hit the red carpet to talk about the current Broadway revival.

Before the opening-night performance, the Manhattan Theatre Club talked to the celebrities arriving at the Samuel J. Friedman, including David Hyde Pierce, Doris Roberts, Nina Arianda and MTC artistic director Lynne Meadow. After the performance, Daly, McNally, Boggess and other members of the cast and creative team discussed the themes of Master Class and their journey to opening night.

According to MTC, "Terrence McNally's play about Maria Callas (Daly) takes us to one of her famous master classes, where, late in her own career, she dares the next generation to make the same sacrifices and rise to the same heights that made her the most celebrated, the most reviled and the most controversial singer of her time."

Master Class is directed by Stephen Wadsworth and has extended its limited engagement through Sept. 4.
