Though Harold Prince most recent collaboration with Andrew Lloyd Webber, Whistle Down The Wind, didn't work out so well, the legendary Prince is as busy The current Broadway mounting of Candide, which he directed, has been nominated for a best revival Tony Award. Also, he'll direct the new Alfred Uhry musical, Parade, due for Broadway in fall 1998. He'll take a break from his full schedule, however, May 25 to speak at the 147th commencement ceremony for the University of Rochester, where he'll also receive an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts.
Among Prince's directorial credits are Show Boat, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Cabaret, Follies, The Phantom Of The Opera and Sweeney Todd. Though Prince graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, he was an apprentice to George Abbott -- a 1911 Rochester graduate.
