News "Ugly Betty" Star Urie to Be Part of Reading of Phillips' Burning Desire Michael Urie, who plays Marc on the hit ABC drama "Ugly Betty," will co-star in a reading of Lou Diamond Phillips' Burning Desire June 18 at the Hayworth Theatre in Los Angeles.

The 8 PM reading kicks off the Bruno Kirby Reading Series, which honors the late Kirby by "showcasing celebrities who are dedicated to theatre." Wendie Malick will direct a cast that also features playwright Phillips, Amy Smart and Dan Lauria. A romantic comedy in two acts, Burning Desire is told through "the puppeteering antics of Lucifer, played by Phillips. Two people who encounter what seems to be the love of their lives, are taken on a roller coaster ride of romance masterfully manipulated by the mystical matchmaker."

Lou Diamond Phillips received a Tony nomination for his role in the 1996 Broadway revival of The King and I. He is best known for such movies as "La Bamba," "Young Guns," "Courage Under Fire" and "Stand and Deliver." Starting this fall, he'll play Arthur in the national tour of Camelot, which currently stars Michael York.
