News U.K. Tour of Scrooge, With Tommy Steele, Delayed Following Star's Illness Scrooge, the musical by Leslie Bricusse that is based on Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" and which last enjoyed a Christmas run at the London Palladium in 2012, has delayed its planned U.K. tour, which was due to begin performances Oct. 23 at London's New Wimbledon Theatre.

Its run there, scheduled through Oct. 26, plus two subsequent touring weeks, booked for Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre and High Wycombe's Sawn Theatre, have also been canceled, owing to the requirement of star Tommy Steele's "immediate surgery." The tour is now scheduled to begin performances Nov. 12 at Southampton's Mayflower Theatre, before continuing on to Leeds, Blackpool, Brighton  and Llandudno.

The production is directed by Bob Tomson, with designs by Paul Farnsworth, illusions by Paul Kieve and choreography by Lisa Kent. Musical direction is by Stuart Pedlar, lighting is by Nick Richings, and sound is by Ben Harrison. The producer is Bill Kenwright Ltd.
