British comedian Eddie Izzard, who brought his hit London solo show to Off-Off-Broadway's P.S. 122, October 1996, will return to that venue Sept. 22-Oct. 12 of this year. Izzard's newest piece, Glorious, opens Sept. 25. Unlike the first Izzard NY engagement, Glorious will begin in Manhattan and then hit Europe, first Paris, then London, then the UK provinces.

So popular and well-reviewed was Izzard's self-titled previous engagement in NYC, he ended up giving an extra performance in a larger space just to accommodate ticket demand. The New York Times' Neil Strauss wrote of that show, "[Izzard's] routines on different subjects tended to spiral into one another and meet at different tangents, so that he could set up running jokes... He began each routine with a mundane subject and embellished, abstracted and analyzed it until it evolved into a surreal fantasy. By sticking to topics most Americans and Europeans have in common...he minimized the gulf."

Izzard's newest piece, Glorious, opens Sept. 25.

An Olivier-Award nominee, Izzard's previous shows in the West End included Ambassadors, Unrepeatable, and Definite Article. His recent London acting credits also include The Cryptogram and 900 Oneonta.
