Poor Yorick is about to do his bit for the Young Vic. The skull used in the graveyard scene in Peter Brook's production of The Tragedy of Hamlet is to be auctioned in September to help raise funds for the Young Vic.

The skull is perhaps the most striking of a range of unusual 'prizes' being offered to the highest bidder: among them the chance to sit in on rehearsals for the forthcoming production of Marlowe's Dr Faustus, directed by David Lan and starring Jude Law.

The Young Vic's need for funds stems from the fact that its 30 year old building was originally designed to last five years, and the theatre needs, in effect, to be replaced.
