Additional programming has been announced for the Under the Radar Festival, which is set to return January 5-21, 2024, after an "extended hiatus" due to pandemic-related budget cuts.

New works added to the lineup include a limited encore of Krymov Lab NYC's interpretation of Pushkin's Eugene Onegin, directed by Dmitry Krimov; and Sister Sylvester's The Eagle and the Tortoise. Both shows are presented by BRIC.

Other additions include Teatime with Salty Brine, featuring cabaret star Salty Brine; and Our Class by Arlekin Players Theatre, presented by MART Foundation, Arlekin, and BAM.

The festival also announced three keynote speakers for its January 12 Symposium/Gathering. Jeremy O. Harris, Kaneza Schaal, and Hana Sharif will speak on the obstacles facing American artists and the presentation of international work.

As previously reported, Under the Radar will also feature works by Cliff Cardinal, Shayok Misha Chowdhury, Dynasty Handbag, Tania El Khoury, Inua Ellams, Jessica L. Hagan, Nile Harris, John Jarboe, Albert Ibokwe Khoza, Motus, Yu Murai/Kaimaku Pennant Race, Pan Pan Theatre, and Peter Mills Weiss and Julia Mounsey.

"Under the Radar is a festival that each year celebrates the vibrancy of new theatre, in New York and internationally," says Festival Director Mark Russell. "At this moment, even in very challenging times, there is still innovative work rising from communities around New York and in far-reaching parts of the globe. Under the Radar aims to spotlight this work for audiences.”

Under the Radar presents experimental work, including works from international creators, Off Off-Broadway companies, and emerging artists. The 2024 festival is presented thanks to partnerships between festival founder and director Mark Russell, creative independent producers Thomas O. Kriegsmann and Sami Pyne of ArKtype, and a number of NYC theatre companies.
