Classic Arts News Universal Plans CD Set to Mark Billie Holiday Anniversary Universal Music will release a double CD and DVD titled Billie Holiday: The Ultimate Collection on April 5 to mark the 90th anniversary of the legendary singer's birth.
The CDs will include 42 tracks drawn from Holiday's entire career, from 1935 through 1958. Unlike most previous Holiday collections, it will include songs recorded both for Columbia, where she made her early big-band records, and Verve, where she made many of her heartbreaking late recordings, as well as other labels.

Among the tracks are such signature Holiday songs as "God Bless the Child," "Lover Man," "Don't Explain," "Good Morning Heartache," and "Strange Fruit."

The DVD will assemble a number of Holiday's rarely seen performances from film and television, including a 1956 appearance on ABC; interviews with Holiday and other artists; rare audio tracks; and photos, documents, and an interactive timeline.
