Fans have been eager to see what else is in store from writers Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis, who first debuted Urinetown at the 2001 FringeNYC. Yeast Nation is the earliest show to sell out a performance in the 15-year history of the festival.
As previously reported, Yeast Nation will star Tony Award winner Harriet Harris (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Cry-Baby), Erik Altemus, Jennifer Blood, Rheaume Crenshaw, Rick Crom, Nick Gaswirth, Kimiko Glenn, Douglas Goodhart, Antwayn Hopper, Lauren Lebowitz, George McDaniel, Manu Narayan, Charlie Plummer, Sarah Sokolovic and Joy Soprano.
Co-author Kotis will direct the engagement, which will have choreography by Wendy Seyb (Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway) and musical direction by William Wade. It will run Aug. 12-28 at La Mama ETC.
The Fringe production of Bella and the Pool Boy has also sold out its opening night performance, with other works closing in, including The Legend of Julie Taymor, Facebook Me, Pearl's Gone Blue, Smoking Section, Jersey Shoresical and The Bardy Bunch: The War of the Families Partridge and Brady.
