News Urinetown's Rando to Direct Feature Film About "The College Experience" Tony Award-winning director John Rando will helm a new comedy for Warner Bros. entitled "The College Experience."

Variety reports that the acclaimed director will helm the motion picture for producers Adam Schroeder and Geri Robert. "The College Experience," according to the industry paper, is "a mother-daughter comedy, centered on a spoiled Beverly Hills socialite who's forced to join her daughter in college after finding herself newly divorced and broke. The daughter initially hates that her mother becomes the life of the party, but eventually they reconcile." The film was developed with producer Roberts by writers Dax Shelby and Robert Stevens. No casting has been announced.

John Rando received the 2002 Tony and Outer Critics Circle Awards for his direction of Urinetown. He also directed the Broadway revival of A Thousand Clowns as well as Neil Simon's The Dinner Party. For City Center Encores!, Rando helmed The Pajama Game, Do Re Mi and Strike Up the Band. His Off-Broadway credits include Polish Joke, Mere Mortals, Ancient History, An Empty Plate, The Venetian Twins, When Ladies Battle, Twelfth Night, The Comedy of Errors and Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight.
