News Urinetown's Rando to Make Feature-Film Debut Tony Award-winning director John Rando will make his feature-film debut with "Truth & Art."

Variety reports that the Urinetown director will helm the upcoming motion picture for Intermedia Films and Outlaw Pictures. Written by Justin Heimberg, Jason Heimberg and Jeff Sank, the comedy is based on a true story about Midwestern brothers who "combined a theatre program and a string of strip clubs."

John Rando received the 2002 Tony and Outer Critics Circle Awards for his direction of Urinetown. He also directed the Broadway revival of A Thousand Clowns as well as Neil Simon's The Dinner Party. For City Center Encores!, Rando helmed The Pajama Game, Do Re Mi and Strike Up the Band. His Off-Broadway credits include Polish Joke, Mere Mortals, Ancient History, An Empty Plate, The Venetian Twins, When Ladies Battle, Twelfth Night, The Comedy of Errors and Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight.

Urinetown continues to play the Henry Miller Theatre, 124 West 43rd Street.
