A host of stage and screen stars will be part of FX's nine-episode series Mrs. America, about the unexpected backlash that followed the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.
Oscar winner Cate Blanchett will star as Phyllis Schlafly, a conservative woman who led the backlash. She will be joined by Sarah Paulson as Alice, Phyllis’ best friend; John Slattery as Phyllis' husband Fred Schlafy; Uzo Aduba as Shirley Chisholm; Rose Byrne as Gloria Steinem; Kayli Carter as young housewife Pamela; Ari Graynor as Harvard-educated lawyer Brenda Feigen-Fasteau; Melanie Lynskey as conservative housewife Rosemary Thomson; James Marsden as conservative Congressman Phil Crane; Margo Martindale as Bella Abzug; Jeanne Tripplehorn as Eleanor Schlafly; and Tracey Ullman as Betty Friedan.
Captain Marvel's Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will serve as executive producers and will also direct the first two episodes.
Mrs. America is scheduled to debut sometime in 2020.
