News Vagina Monologues Added To ACT' Women In Theatre Series, Apr. 23 SEATTLE -- Eve Ensler's 1997 Obie award winning play The Vagina Monologues has been added to the schedule of A Contemporary Theatre's Women In Theatre Series.

SEATTLE -- Eve Ensler's 1997 Obie award winning play The Vagina Monologues has been added to the schedule of A Contemporary Theatre's Women In Theatre Series.

Actress/performer Eve Ensler started talking to women friends about their vaginas in 1993, and found they were happy to talk about them. "It's like death" says Ensler, "It's one of those areas that no one ever brings up." The stories came together to form The Vagina Monolgues. running at ACT's Bullit Cabaret, Apr. 23 - May 10.

Previously announced in the series, which will be Associate Artistic Director Leslie Swackhamer's last hurrah with the company before her resignation takes effect, are June Bride, Sara Felder's solo show about her "traditional Lesbian Jewish wedding." (Mar. 27- Apr. 12 in the Bullitt Cabaret); Claire Bloom's highly praised show Enter The Woman which presents fascinating characters from the early theatrical women's movement (Apr. 16-19 in ACT's Falls Theatre); and The first Women's Playwright's festival, showcasing six authors from across the country, whose works will be workshopped with some of Seattle's best actors and directors. Represented playwright's are Darrah Cloud, Kia Corthron, Migdalia Cruz, Joann Farias, Naomi Iizuka and Lizzie Olesker (Bullit Cabaret, May 16-21).
