Kilmer, who’s starred in such films as “Batman Forever,” “The Saint” and “Alexander,” is also an experienced stage trouper. Off-Broadway, he has appeared in The Slab Boys, Henry IV Part I and Tis Pity She’s a Whore, and in Los Angeles he played Moses in the recent The Ten Commandments: The Spectacle Musical. He has signed to play Frank in Postman, the part created in the classic 1946 movie by John Garfield (and by Jack Nicholson in the remake). This will be his British stage debut. Emmerson, who will play Cora, played the title role in Baby Doll at the Albery Theatre. She is a regular television performer, with credits including “The Alan Clark Diaries” and “Foyle’s War.”
Andrew Rattenbury has adapted the James M. Cain novel. The production reunites Emmerson with Baby Doll director Lucy Bailey and designer Bunny Christie.
Rupert Gavin produces on behalf of Incidental Colman, with Ambassador Theatre Group and Maidstone Productions, in association with Hilary Williams. The production is making its way to London after a successful run at the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
