The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan will launch its new series Broadway Bares Soul: An Intimate Evening of Song & Spirit, on September 9 with its inaugural guest, Tony Award nominee Vanessa Williams.

Williams, who earned her Tony nomination playing the Witch in the 2002 revival of Into the Woods, also appeared in Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Trip to Bountiful, and After Midnight.

The series will contine with guests Kelli O’Hara (The King and I) on October 3, and Raúl Esparza (Company) on December 14. Each performance will feature a mix of interview and performance and will be hosted by CNN Faith & Religion commentator, Fr. Edward Beck, C.P.

As part of its 2017–18 fall and winter programming, the Sheen Center will offer a mix of theatre, film, visual art, and music. Drama Desk winner Andréa Burns (On Your Feet!, In the Heights) will also return to the Sheen Center with a concert on December 11, and Broadway Inspirational Voices will perform December 4.

In the Black Box theatre will be Loveless Texas (now through September 24); The Mecca Tales (October 20–November 4); Hold These Truths, a solo play starring Joel de la Fuente; The Man in the High Castle (December 2–20); and The Enlightenment of Mr. Mole, based on The Wind in the Willows, adapted and directed by B.H. Barry (December 27–31).

There will also be two readings of new plays: Daylight by Bill Cain about Dorothy Day starring Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale); and The Wars of Dagger John by Turlough McConnell, about 19th century Archbishop “Dagger John” Hughes.
