Durang's Tony-winning hit play, which received an extended, critically acclaimed Broadway run, will be presented July 17-Aug. 10.
As previously reported, Durang will portray Vanya in his Chekhov-inspired, Bucks County-set comedy that will also feature Henner (Chicago, "Taxi") as Masha. Sheryl Kaller (Mothers and Sons, Next Fall) directs.
Newly announced are Madigan (After the Night and the Music) as Sonia, Mason as Spike, Kakkar (When January Feels Like Summer) as Cassandra and Alsip (Stage Kiss) as Nina.
According to the Playhouse, "This production brings the Tony-winning Best Play home to Bucks County Playhouse, when the narcissistic B-movie star Masha, pops home to Bucks County to visit her anguished siblings with a few surprises in store."
Durang's plays include A History of the American Film (Tony nomination), Sister Mary Explains It All For You (Obie Award), Beyond Therapy, Baby With The Bathwater, The Marriage of Bette and Boo (Obie Award and Guild Hull Warriner Award), Sex and Longing, Laughing Wild, Betty's Summer Vacation (Obie Award), Miss Witherspoon (produced by McCarter Theatre Center, 2005 Pulitzer Prize finalist) and Why Torture Is Wrong, and the People Who Love Them.
