News Vetere’s Machievelli to Begin New York Run Jan. 12 Richard Vetere’s Machievelli, which mirrors the Machiavelli satire The Mandrake, is set to begin performances at Manhattan Theatre Source Jan. 12.

Directed by Andrew Frank, the limited engagement will play through Feb. 4. Liza Vann and James Wetzel co-star. Machievelli, according to press notes, “tells the story of how the world’s most famous political thinker used his genius to survive and outsmart the ruthless Medici family while bringing democracy to Florence during the Renaissance in the 1500’s.” The play will run in repertory with Machiavelli’s The Mandrake.

Playwright Vetere has also penned One Shot One Kill, Gangster Apparel, The Engagement and First Love.
