Representatives for Lincoln Center Theater confirmed to Playbill.com that the Bidens were in the audience for the Feb. 23 performance of the play, which stars Tony Award winners Stockard Channing and Linda Lavin, Golden Globe winner Stacy Keach and Tony Award nominee Thomas Sadoski and Elizabeth Marvel.
Sadoski (Reasons to Be Pretty), who plays the Wyeths, younger son, a reality-television producer, told Playbill.com, "The Vice President and Mrs. Biden were incredibly gracious. The Vice President is an undeniably charming and engaging man, but I was most struck by Mrs. Biden; she's beautiful, glamorous and she just radiates a humble and intelligent humanity. It was a real honor to perform for and meet them both. It was a highlight of my career and a night I will always treasure."
Other Desert Cities centers on the Wyeths, a shamed Republican family who buries a crime committed by their eldest son, only to have their daughter return home with news of an explosive memoir. The New York Times described the play as "the most richly enjoyable new play for grown-ups that New York has known in many a season." LCT is hoping to transfer the drama to Broadway this fall.
