Audiences at the Perth Festival of Arts are being treated to performances by Victoria Chaplin, daughter of the late Charlie Chaplin.
She is not his only child to enter showbusiness, son Sydney played opposite Judy Holliday in Bells Are Ringing and Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl on Broadway. Another daughter Geraldine Chaplin found fame in the 1960's as a leading lady of the cinema.
However it seems Victoria has inherited her father's unique gifts of comedy and movement. She is currently performing at the annual festival in the West Australian capital. Le Cerde Invisible is a two-hander circus she performs with her husband Jean Baptiste Thierree. Their act is a work of eccentricity, complete with imaginative interpretations of traditional circus routines.
Victoria's theatrical heritage is extended as her mother, Oona (Chaplin's last wife), was the daughter of acclaimed playwright Eugene O'Neill. Le Cerde Invisible is currently playing at His Majesty's Theatre, Perth. Bookings (61-89)4841133.
