Cabaret & Concert News Victoria Clark and Billy Porter Will Sing Audience Choices in Special Lyrics & Lyricists The long-running series at the 92nd Street Y let fans pick the songs for the June 26 edition.

Broadway big guns are rolling out for the June 26 special edition of the Lyrics & Lyricists series at the 92nd Street YM-YWHA in New York.

Titled Favorites: Your Choice, the June 26 concert will feature classic showtunes chosen by the series’ audiences, and performed by a stellar lineup including Tony Award winners Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) and Billy Porter (Kinky Boots), along with Capathia Jenkins (Caroline, Or Change), Ramin Karimloo (Anastasia), Lindsay Mendez (Wicked), Clarke Thorell (Hairspray), Nicholas Ward (In Transit), and Betsy Wolfe (Waitress).

The concert will conclude the spring season for the series, which has been running since 1970 and usually showcases music from a particular writer, team, or era.

Co-Artistic Directors Ted Chapin and Ted Sperling asked patrons and subscribers to the series to pick their favorite showtunes. The result will be a concert that will include the likes of “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “I Got Rhythm,” “Oklahoma,” “All the Things You Are,” and “Over the Rainbow,” among other songs to be announced.

Chapin said, “I’m very pleased with the spectrum of titles that came up—more than we could include in one evening! What we tried to do for the final list is choose songs that are certainly known and loved, but in performances that will enable these singers to surprise. What makes this evening special is that usually with L&L the songs are in service to the evening’s theme. This time the evening is in service to the songs.”

Tickets can be ordered by calling (212) 415-5500 or visiting 92Y.org/Lyrics. The 92nd Street Y is located on Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street in Manhattan.
