VideoCabaret is creating another of its unique (and now legendary) political video-cabarets, lampooning current Canadian politics in a "thoroughly third-millennium theatrical form".
These satirical multi-media shows have been a hit ever since the creators ran a mock campaign for mayor titled HUMMER FOR MAYOR/ART vs Art (the latter was the first name of Toronto's current mayor).
VideoCabaret News is the latest work-in-progress and its target is the process of newsgathering. We are promised "exclusive rumours, lies, denials and confessions by video-effigies" of many high-profile Canadian politicians, "sensational analysis by hardhitting, factfinding, nitpicking, backbiting, journalists" and "political fantasies and apathetics from locations across Canada and the USA, who will answer the question: Is Canada a distinct society" (a take-off on the issue of Quebec as a "distinct" society)?
VideoCabaret News runs at Toronto's Factory Theatre from May 30 to June 14. For tickets call: 416-504-9971.
