PlayBlog Village Voice Pokes Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark in Comic Strip Illustrator Ward Sutton has lent his signature wit to a new comic strip in the Village Voice that mocks the Broadway musical Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark. Fans of the Marvel comic will thrill to appearances (and commentary) by familiar characters Doc Ock, The Lizard, Aunt May, Kraven the Hunter, the Incredible Hulk and the hero's creator, Stan (the Man) Lee. All are exasperated over the treatment Spidey gets at the hands of Broadway show folk.

On March 9 producers announced that the troubled musical, directed and co-authored by Tony Award winner Julie Taymor, would delay its Broadway opening for a sixth time (after 100 previews), while Taymor would step aside in order for new creative team members to be brought in. The elaborate $65 million spectacle has a score by U2's Bono and the Edge.
