Douglas Aibel, Vineyard's artistic director, and Sarah Stern, co-artistic director, announced April 10 that the world premiere of Brooklynite — featuring a book by Peter Lerman and Mayer and music and lyrics by Lerman — will run in winter 2015 and have choreography by Tony nominee Steven Hoggett (Once).

In Brooklynite, according to press notes, "Trey Swieskowski is an idealistic hardware store clerk who dreams of becoming a superhero. Astrolass, Brooklyn's most celebrated superhero, is determined to throw in the cape and live like a normal Brooklynite. When they meet they hatch a plan that will change their lives forever. But can they save Brooklyn when it suddenly teeters on the brink of disaster? Brooklynite is inspired by the real Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company located in Park Slope, with characters created by Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman."

Jacobs-Jenkins (Appropriate) will make his Vineyard main stage debut with Gloria; Or Ambition in the spring of 2015. Evan Cabnet (The Performers) will direct.

According to the Vineyard, "This trenchant and powerful new play follows an ambitious group of editorial assistants at a famed Manhattan magazine, each of whom hopes for a book deal before they turn thirty. But when an unexpected event shatters life as they've known it, the stakes for who will get to tell their own story will become higher than ever."

The Vineyard's current season will conclude with the world premiere of Nicky Silver's play Too Much Sun, directed by Mark Brokaw. Previews will begin May 1, prior to a May 18 opening night.
