The Off-Broadway musical Lewberger: The Wizard of Friendship will release a cast recording June 23 via Broadway Records.
The meta-theatrical musical follows a fictional fight between the members of comedy band Lewberger that creates a rift so big between them that it breaks the heart of the Wizard of Friendship. Sent on a musical quest in the land of NoFriendia, their adventure takes them through "the intimidatingly Handsome Forest, through the Adults-only Haunted House, and many more amazing places all while being guided by… a giant… sausage man."
Playing Theatre Row, the Off-Broadway engagement was sold out, with fans of the viral comedy band coming from across the country to experience the show. Additionally, the development process of the musical was captured online in a series of videos.
Featuring Lewberger members Hughie Stone Fish, Keith Habersberger, and Alex Lewis, The Wizard of Friendship album also features special guests Wayne Brady as the Wizard of Friendship, Beetlejuice’s Alex Brightman as FlimFlam the Sausage Man, and Dashaun Wesley as a Giant Bird In A Man Suit.
Produced by Stone Fish and Jay Marcovitz, with songwriting by Habersberger, Lewis, and Stone Fish, the first song from the album, “It’s a Stupid Idea (to Put on a Broadway Show)” is available now.
