News Waitress Original Cast CD Released Today The recording was previously released digitally on iTunes.

The original cast album of Sara Bareilles' Broadway musical Waitress is released as a physical CD July 8. (It was originally scheduled for July 1.)

The recording was released digitally June 3.

The musical, which opened April 24, stars Tony winner Jessie Mueller as a waitress and baker who longs to escape from a bad marriage.

Produced by five-time Grammy Award nominee Bareilles and Grammy Award nominee and noted producer/mixer Neal Avron, the album was recorded by DMI Soundtracks and is being distributed by Warner-Elektra-Atlantic Corporation.

Bareilles also recorded many of the songs on a concept album released in fall 2015.

Based upon the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress claims to be the first Broadway musical in history to have four women in the four top creative team spots, with book by Jessie Nelson, score by Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Diane Paulus.
