According to an ABC press release, Walters will feature interviews with Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy, who have both been Oscar-nominated for their performances in "Dreamgirls." Hudson and Murphy have already picked up Golden Globe and SAG Awards for their work in the film based on the Broadway musical of the same name. Walters' one-hour special will also feature an interview with stage and screen actress Helen Mirren. Mirren stars in and as "The Queen" in the Oscar-nominated film. The veteran actress has also won a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II.
Walter's fourth guest will be comedian/talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres, who will host the Academy Awards for the first time.
"The Barbara Walters Special" will air Feb. 25 at 7 PM ET. The program is produced and directed by Bill Geddie.
The 79th Annual Academy Awards will be presented Feb. 25. ABC-TV will broadcast the event live from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre beginning at 8 PM ET. The telecast will begin with a half-hour red carpet segment titled "The Road to the Oscars."
