News Walton's Esoterica Delays Off-Broadway Opening a Week Esoterica — which is billed as "an evening of intellectual swashbuckling" — was originally scheduled to begin previews at Off-Broadway's DR2 Theatre Sept. 6 with an official opening Sept. 13. The production will now begin performances Sept. 9 and open Sept. 19.

Sleight-of-hand artist and raconteur Eric Walton stars in Esoterica, which he also penned. In the production, Walton, according to press notes, will "satirically investigate matters philosophical, metaphysical and arcane. With little more than a regulation deck of 52 playing cards, a handful of Tootsie Rolls and a Mr. Potato-Head, Walton leads his audience on an exploration of the human psyche." The show is recommended for ages 14 and older. Elysa Marden directs Esoterica. The creative team also features Troy Hourie (set design), Jessica Jahn (costume design), Ben Stanton (lighting design) and Lisa Heffter (sound design).

Esoterica will play, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 PM, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 and 10 PM and Sundays at 7 PM. Preview tickets are priced $35. Beginning Sept. 19 tickets are priced $50 and $35 on Sundays; call (212) 239-6200.

The DR2 Theatre is located in Manhattan at 103 East 15th Street, just east of Union Square.
