LOS ANGELES -- Spotlight, a new meet-the-artist series at the Skirball Cultural Center led by Barbara Isenberg, will feature such theatre luminaries as Garry Marshall, Wendy Wasserstein, Stephen Schwartz and John Rubinstein. The series will run every month from June 27-Sept. 26.
Isenberg, a local arts reporter, is the author of Making It Big: The Diary of a Broadway Musical.
On Sat. June 27, Isenberg will kick off the series by talking with Schwartz, who did the music and lyrics for Godspell, Pippin and the recently released Children of Eden. Wasserstein (The Heidi Chronicles) will appear July 25; Marshall (playwright and owner of the new Falcon Theatre) Aug. 29; actor Rubinstein (L.A. Ragtime) Sept. 26. Start-up time for each Saturday event is 2 PM.
The Skirball is located on a 15-acre site off the San Diego Freeway in the Santa Monica mountains. Tickets are $12 (general); $10 (members); $6 (students). Call Tickets L.A. at (213) 660-8587.
