The National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as the Jimmy Awards, were presented June 26 at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway. The awards, which recognize excellence in high school musical theatre, are named in honor of late Broadway theatre owner and producer James M. Nederlander.
Dear Evan Hansen Tony winner Ben Platt hosted the annual ceremony, and the Jimmy Awards just released a video of his reactions to the performances throughout the event. Watch Platt's humorous and good-hearted remarks below:
High school students Sofia Deler and Tony Moreno earned the top honors for the evening. Both were awarded a $10,000 scholarship, while several additional finalists received $2,500 toward their education.
