Anastasia stars Christy Altomare and Zach Adkins journey to the past in a new musical performance that captures a song from the 1997 Fox animated feature film that didn’t make it to Broadway.
Altomare and Adkins, who star as Anya and Dmitri, respectively, recorded the Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty song “At the Beginning,” which played during the film’s final credits. The song was first recorded in 1997 by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis.

“At the Beginning” is a rare inclusion on a musical soundtrack. While never used as part of the film itself, the song was written by Ahrens and Flaherty as a stand-alone pop song to accompany the film.
The Broadway production of Anastasia continues at the Broadhurst Theatre.
