Video footage has been released for the Broadway-bound Amélie, A New Musical, based on the Academy Award-winning 2001 French film Amélie, which opened its Los Angeles tryout at the Ahmanson Theatre December 16, for a run through January 15, 2017.

Amélie has a libretto by Craig Lucas (An American in Paris, Prelude to a Kiss) and features music by Daniel Messé with lyrics by Nathan Tysen (The Burnt Part Boys, Tuck Everlasting) and Messé. Tony winner Pam MacKinnon (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) directs.

Phillipa Soo, who wowed audiences in the original Off-Broadway run of Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 and earned a Tony nomination as Best Actress in a Musical for her Broadway debut as Eliza Schuyler in Hamilton, plays the title role, Amélie Poulain. Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal) plays her leading man.

Amélie follows the whimsical and charming existence of Amélie, a lonely French waitress who decides to act as a secret wish-fulfiller to the people who live around her.
