News Watch Highlights from Amelie’s Opening Night Catch glimpses of Center Theatre Group’s production starring Phillipa Soo.

The Broadway-bound musical Amélie began performances at Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angles December 4, but officially celebrated opening December 16. Based on the five-time Academy Award-nominated film by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant, the show stars Tony nominee Phillipa Soo in the title role.

Stars such as Steven Pasquale, Barret Foa, Carly Hughes, Perez Hilton and more walked the red carpet to talk about the new production amidst additional sneak peeks. Watch the just-release clip, above.

With a book by Craig Lucas, music by Daniel Messé, and lyrics by Nathan Tysen (Tuck Everlasting) and Messé, Amélie is directed by Pam MacKinnon with musical staging and choreography by Sam Pinkleton (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812). The production features musical direction by Kimberly Grigsby, scenic and costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Jane Cox and Mark Barton, sound design by Kai Harada, projection design by Peter Nigrini, and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe. The full cast includes Emily Afton, Alyse Alan Louis, David Andino, Randy Blair, Heath Calvert, Alison Cimmet, Savvy Crawford, Manoel Felciano, Harriett D. Foy, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Tony Sheldon, Jacob Keith Watson, and Paul Whitty.
