Video Watch Highlights From The Cake Off-Broadway Baking, long-held beliefs, and a lesbian wedding collide in Bekah Brunstetter's new comedy, now playing at MTC.

Ahead of celebrating the official opening of its latest Off-Broadway production, Bekah Brunstetter's The Cake, Manhattan Theatre Club offers a sneak peek at the new comedy. Take a look at the production, starring Debra Jo Rupp and now playing at New York City Center, in the video above.

The Off-Broadway premiere of The Cake, directed by MTC's artistic director Lynne Meadow, opens March 5.

In the new comedy, a North Carolina baker is forced to re-examine her deeply held beliefs when her late best friend’s daughter asks her to make a cake for her lesbian wedding. Rupp, who is reprising the role of Della from previous productions, is joined Off-Broadway by Marinda Anderson (Teenage Dick, Far From Heaven), Genevieve Angelson (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, The Upside), and Dan Daily (The Rivals, Seabiscuit).

The Cake is playing at New York City Center – Stage I.
