Idina Menzel released her latest solo album, idina, September 23. Broadway’s original Maureen and Elphaba visited Jimmy Kimmel to promote the record October 5.
While on set, Menzel revealed that her seven-year-old son hates Frozen—the Disney animated movie that catapulted her to mainstream fame—and that he likes to mock her by singing her anthem, “Let It Go,” in a silly voice and heels.
But that wasn’t all we learned about Menzel from the late-night show. Apparently, Menzel used to be a wedding singer; she once performed at a wedding where actress Julia Roberts was in attendance. In the video below, she explains why she was nervous about upsetting the Oscar winner.
Kimmel also welcomed his nemesis, Matt Damon, to surprise Menzel—since Damon is her movie-star crush.
But no appearance by Menzel would have been complete without hearing her sing; Menzel performed “Everybody Knows” from the new album.
