The annual ceremony also featured a performance by Oscar winner and 2022 Tony host Ariana DeBose.

2022 Tony nominee Michael R. Jackson performed "Memory Song" from his musical A Strange Loop at the 33rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards May 6 in NYC. Watch Jackson's performance in the video above.

Playing the Lyceum Theatre, the musical received 11 Tony nominations, including Best Book of a Musical for Jackson, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for Jaquel Spivey, Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for L Morgan Lee (who became the first openly trans Tony-nominated performer), and Best Musical.

Jackson wrote the book, music, and lyrics for the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, which made its world premiere at Off-Broadway's Playwrights Horizons before transferring to Washington, D.C. and Broadway.

The GLAAD ceremony also featured a performance by 2022 Tony host (and Oscar winner) Ariana DeBose, who performed "Somewhere" from West Side Story following her monumental awards sweep for portraying Anita in Steven Spielberg's film adaptation. Watch the video below.

DeBose was introduced by Head Over Heels' Peppermint, and later DeBose introduced GLAAD Award winner Judith Light.

Rent actor Wilson Cruz took home the Vito Russo Award at the ceremony, which recognizes LGBTQ+ media professionals who have advocated on behalf of LGBTQ+ acceptance.
