Waitress’ Sara Bareilles, who recently starred as Mary Magdalene in the NBC live broadcast of Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, performed the musical's hit ballad “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” May 21 at The Egyptian Theater in Hollywood.
Accompanied by Jesus Christ Superstar composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, the performance was part of a For Your Consideration celebration of the TV broadcast that featured a panel discussion and musical performances.
The panel included composer and executive producer Lloyd Webber, stars John Legend, Bareilles, and Brandon Victor Dixon, executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, director David Leveaux, choreographer Camille A. Brown, production designer Jason Ardizzone-West, and music producer Harvey Mason, Jr.
The event was moderated by NBC's World of Dance judge Derek Hough; Legend closed the evening with his current hit, “A Good Night.”
