Steve Martin, who co-created the new, Tony-nominated musical Bright Star with Edie Brickell, made a surprise appearance at the Cort Theatre May 13.
Prior to the musical's second act, comedic actor and musician Martin joined the band for the musical's Entr’acte.
"He made a surprise appearance, starting with his back to the audience, banjo strapped over his shoulder, and then turned around revealing himself to the crowd, and played along with the band," a spokesperson for the production told Playbill.com. Following a wave from Martin, the new musical continued.
