The HBO Max comedy-drama Hacks released a teaser trailer for the second season, giving a first look at Laurie Metcalf's highly-anticipated guest appearance. The 55-second video also revealed the release date for the forthcoming series, which hits the streaming platform May 12. Watch the teaser trailer above.
The new season contains eight episodes, with two releasing per week through June 2. The synopsis reads, "The dark mentorship between legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance and her young, entitled writer Ava continues to evolve as the two travel across the country workshopping Deborah’s new stand-up act."
It was recently reported that Metcalf has joined cast, along with Martha Kelly, Ming-Na Wen, and comedian Margaret Cho. Actors Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, and Carl Clemons-Hopkins will return as series leads.
Created by Emmy winners Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, the series tells the story of a Las Vegas comedian and her battle to stay relevant among an evolving comedy scene. Its first season was met with critical acclaim, having won three Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes Awards.
