Video Watch the Trailer for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 2, Featuring a Familiar Funny Girl Tune The Emmy-winning series, starring Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub, and more, returns to Amazon in December

After winning eight Emmy Awards, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will premiere its second season on Amazon Prime December 5.

As the official trailer suggests through its song choice (Barbra Streisand’s rendition of “The Greatest Star” from Funny Girl), Midge Maisel is back and ready to claim her place in the spotlight.

The first season launched the story of 1950s housewife Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel who falls into comedy after her husband (an aspiring comic) leaves her for another woman, seeking solace in the open mic night he used to frequent and unleashing her previously hidden talent of comic introspection.

Written and directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the series won eight Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Rachel Brosnahan, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series for Meredith Tucker, Jeanie Bacharach, and longtime Broadway casting director Cindy Tolan, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Sherman-Palladino, and Outstanding Comedy Series.

In its sophomore season, the comedy will welcome Tony nominee Zachary Levi. The cast already boasts numerous theatre names, including Michael Zegen (Bad Jews), Tony winner Tony Shalhoub (The Band’s Visit), and Marin Hinkle (Electra), as well as Alex Borstein.
