Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber will become a member of the British House of Lords Feb. 26 -- under the title Lord Lloyd-Webber of Sydmonton.Webber, composer of Cats, Phantom of the Opera and many other West End musicals, was elevated earlier this year by Queen Elizabeth II.
The Associated Press reports that he will add a hyphen between his last two names because the House of Lords requires that double names have a hyphen. The "Sydmonton" comes from Sydmonton Court in Hertfordshire, Webber's country estate where he develops his musicals in a small theatre space.
The AP reports that Webber is expected to take the Conservative whip and specialize in the arts, but not give a speech until he's had time to study the workings of the chamber.
