David Weiner's Love Song of the Apocalypse is making its American premiere at NY's HERE, May 12-29. Set in Los Angeles as fire, flood, earthquakes, and blizzards beset the city, the play tells of a prostitute, Sarah, and her lover, Vinny. Both are convinced the end of the world is at hand and only they can save it -- by sacrificing the Messiah. The production will be part of The Lincoln Center Directors Lab's The Bible Project.
Love Song was first given a staged reading at The Almeida Theatre in London and was subsequently performed at the Etcetera Theatre.
The cast, directed by Andrew Grosso, includes Tracy Hostmyer, Chris Burns, and Trevor Long. Grosso and Weiner have collaborated together with La Arana also at HERE, and in the Downtown Arts Festival with Guts.
