The new work premieres at the Manhattan Repertory Theater 2015 One Act Competition; performances are held June 16-19. 

Gregg Wiggans (assistant director of Promises, Promises; assistant executive producer on How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) directs. Costume design is by Kathryn Rohe with sound design by Elisheba Itoop.

Here's how it's billed: "In eighteenth century England, a man hires an illustrious scribe (Itkin) to write a character for his wife (Ellingson), who dreams of acting on the stage. The esteemed poet's extra stipulation is to bed the actress in her own home. During the throws of passion, the cuckold-husband (Fahey) finds the manuscript and starts reading aloud. The beautiful recitation makes the playwright suddenly realize he's been writing for the wrong person and the cuckold becomes his new muse."

Wiggans mounts the one act while Taylor stars as the Emcee in Signature Theatre's Cabaret in D.C.

As an actor, Taylor has been seen in the original Broadway casts of The Addams Family and Rock of Ages as well as Off-Broadway in Little Miss Sunshine. He also created the Broadway-themed web series "It Could Be Worse" alongside Mitchell Jarvis.

If Taylor's play moves on to the finals, it will be performed June 30 and July 1 before MRT announces the 2015 winner.
