News West Coast Premiere of Big Fish Will Swim Into Musical Theatre West Musical Theatre West will present the West Coast premiere of the Andrew Lippa musical Big Fish – to begin performances Oct. 31 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center (6200 E. Atherton Street, Long Beach, CA).

The production will run through Nov. 16 under the direction of Larry Carpenter with original direction and choreography by Susan Stroman.Matthew Smedal will music direct and Peggy Hickey will choreograph the MTW production.

Big Fish has music and lyrics by Lippa (The Wild Party) and book by John August. The musical is based on the novel by Daniel Wallace as well as the motion picture written by August.

MTW's Big Fish has an official opening on Nov. 1 at 8 PM.

Here's how MTW bills the musical, "Overflowing with heart, humor and spectacular stagecraft, the musical Big Fish reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that's richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself. The story centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some! Edward's incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales."

Jeff Skowron and Rebecca Johnson will helm the production in the lead roles of Edward and Sandra Bloom. In addition to Skowron and Johnson, the cast will include Andrew Huber, Jude Mason, Kristina Miller, Timothy Hughes, Gabriel Kalomas, Zachary Ford, Molly Garner, Michelle Loucadoux, Richard Bulda, Jake Saenz, Caitlyn Calfas, Rachel Davis, Jessica Ernest, Aaron Felske, Marissa Field, Brad Fitzgerald, Anne Hinskton, Morgan McGeehan, Lauren Newman and Michael Starr.
