News   West End Grease Extends to Fall 2010; Grease High School Reality Show Planned
The West End production of Grease, which recently marked its second anniversary at the Piccadilly Theatre and is now the longest-running show in the venue's history, is now booking to September 2010. It has played more than 800 performances there.

The current Danny, Ray Quinn, has also extended his contract, and will continue in the show through Nov. 28. His sweetheart Sandy is played by his real-life sweetheart Emma Stephens (Starlight Express, Saturday Night Fever).

Quinn, who has previously played the role of Doody in the show, began his acting career in the Channel 4 soap opera "Brookside." He appeared in "The X-Factor" in 2006, and subsequently released a number one platinum selling album "Doing It My Way" before touring the U.K. in 2007. He subsequently won the celebrity TV ice dance contest "Dancing on Ice" in March 2009, and completed the live U.K. tour of the show before returning to Grease.

It has also been announced that digital TV channel Sky 1 is to produce a new series, "Grease: The School Musical," which follows the experience of Wallasey School (in the Wirral, northwest England) in putting on their own production of a musical of West End caliber. Airing in August, the show follows the secondary school children as they prepare to stage the show in a professional theatre. It follows the success of last year's "Hairspray: The School Musical."

Hosted by Duncan James, the show is produced by Stacey Haynes with Zoe Tyler as vocal coach, all of whom are working closely with the production team of the stage version of Grease.

Quinn is taking on a special mentoring role with the students. To book tickets for Grease, contact the box office on 0844 412 6666, or visit www.greasethemusical.co.uk
