News West Side Story to Return to London's Sadler's Wells for Summer Run Prior to U.K. Tour An international touring production of West Side Story, featuring the original Broadway choreography of Jerome Robbins, is to return to London's Sadler's Wells, where it was previously seen in 2008, beginning performances Aug. 7 prior to an official opening Aug. 8. It will run through Sept. 22, then launch a U.K. tour at Liverpool Empire Sept. 24.

Over Christmas 2012, the famed musical played a sold-out season at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris, having previously played Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, Berlin, Madrid and Beijing. Following its London and Liverpool runs, it will tour to theatres in Oxford, Stoke-on-Trent, Wimbledon in south west London, with further dates to be announced.

Produced by BB Promotion in collaboration with Sundance Productions Inc., NY and Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Group, the production is directed and choreographed by Joey McKneely using the Robbins' choreography. McKneely is a former assistant to Jerome Robbins. His Broadway credits include Smokey Joe's Cafe and The Boy from Oz, as well as Hal Prince's Washington, DC, production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down the Wind and Nicholas Hytner's production of Twelfth Night for Lincoln Center Theater.

West Side Story, which was originally directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins, has a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
