Schiff replaces the previously announced Kerry Shale, who, according to press materials, "due to personal reasons has had to leave the production." The company also features Tom Conti, Cameron Blakely, Josh Cohen and Natalie Walter, under the direction of Tamara Harvey.

Schiff was previously seen in the West End in Underneath the Lintel at the Duchess Theatre in 2007. His recent film roles include "Johnny English: Reborn," "Made in Dagenham" and "The Infidel."

The play is based on the playwright's own experience of turning his hit TV play Bar Mitzvah Boy into a less-than-successful musical of the same name. The play, which is receiving its London premiere, is a look at the journey to get a musical from page to stage, complete with a cantankerous composer, a fantasist lyricist, a neophyte female novelist turned playwright, a cocksure director and a bombastic producer.
