News   Westport to Screen Our Town in Honor of Newman Oct. 22
The Westport Country Playhouse will honor the life and legacy of late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman with a screening of Thornton Wilder's Our Town Nov. 22.

Actively involved at the Westport Country Playhouse, where his wife, Oscar-winning actress Joanne Woodward serves as artistic director, Mr. Newman made his final stage appearance in the Westport revival of Thornton Wilder's Our Town. The acclaimed actor portrayed the Stage Manager in the James Naughton-helmed production that subsequently transferred to Broadway in 2002. The Westport Country Playhouse will present screenings of Our Town, which was filmed by the Showtime cable network during its Broadway run. Screenings will take place at 2 PM and 7 PM on Nov. 22. One hour prior to each screening, Westport will welcome the public to celebrate Mr. Newman's life with refreshments.

Paul Newman, the ruggedly handsome Oscar-winning actor known for his roles in "Cool Hand Luke," "Hud," "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," and Broadway's Picnic, Sweet Bird of Youth and The Desperate Hours, lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 26 at the age of 83.

Tickets are free by phone or in-person reservation, beginning at 10 AM on Nov. 3. To reserve tickets, phone (203) 227-4177 or visit the Westport box office, located at 25 Powers Court in Westport, CT.
