Off the back of taking home the 2019 Obie Award for Best New American Play, Heidi Schreck’s What the Constitution Means to Me has been named the recipient of this year's Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Play. Dick Scanlan and Carmel Dean's musical Renascence, seen at the Abrons Arts Center last fall in a production from Transport Group, was named Best New Musical.

Other winners announced May 22 are the Yiddish revival of Fiddler on the Roof (which continues its acclaimed run at Stage 42), Maddie Corman's personal monologue play Accidentally Brave, Nassim Soleimanpour's experimental new show Nassim, the Off-Broadway revival of Uncle Vanya at Hunter Theater Project, and Pip's Island.

Now in its ninth year, the awards honor commercial and not-for-profit productions. A winners' ceremony will take place on June 18 at Sardi's.
