News What the World Needs Now: Jacob Sterling at Joe's Pub Begins Jan. 17 Tony nominee David Pittu conjures the questionable talents of composer Jacob Sterling in What the World Needs Now, beginning Jan. 17 at Joe's Pub.

Pittu (Twelfth Night, Lovemusik), who created and starred in the Off-Broadway musical comedy What's That Smell: The Music of Jacob Sterling, headlines the Jan. 17 and 18 concerts. Joining Pittu are What's That Smell Off-Broadway cast members Peter Bartlett, Max Kumungai and Matt Shock.

The concerts celebrate the cast album of the Off-Broadway production and promise to offer "many classic hits from Jacob Sterling musicals like Private Benjamin and Mademoiselle Death (based on 'La Femme Nikita'), as well as a sneak peak of what Jacob is working on for the new year."

Pittu and Randy Redd co-wrote What's That Smell?, which played an extended run Off-Broadway in 2008.

Showtimes are 7:30 PM (Jan. 17) and 9:30 PM (Jan. 18). For tickets to the concert, priced $25, visit JoesPub. Joe's Pub is located within the Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street.
